The client / the project

As an SOP/Toil Specialist, you will play a vital role in enhancing operational efficiency and reducing manual toil within our organization. Your responsibilities will encompass developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well as identifying, automating, and optimizing repetitive tasks to streamline workflows and improve overall productivity.

Responsibilities

  • SOP Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for various departments and functions.
  • Documentation: Produce detailed and organized SOP documents that provide step-by-step instructions, workflows, and best practices for specific tasks and processes.
  • Toil Identification: Work closely with teams to identify manual and repetitive tasks that contribute to operational toil and inefficiency.
  • Automation: Leverage scripting languages, automation tools, and technologies to automate toil-heavy tasks and processes, reducing manual effort.
  • Workflow Optimization: Analyze existing workflows and processes to identify areas for optimization, proposing and implementing improvements.
  • Training and Knowledge Sharing: Develop training materials and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions to empower teams to identify and address toil in their respective areas.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Implement monitoring solutions to track the progress of toil reduction initiatives, providing regular reports and insights to relevant stakeholders.
  • Compliance: Ensure that SOPs and automated processes comply with industry regulations, quality standards, and compliance requirements.

Technologies / Skills

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in SOP development, process optimization, automation, or a related role.
  • Documentation Skills: Strong writing and documentation skills, with the ability to create clear, concise, and organized procedural documents.
  • Automation Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell), automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet), and process automation technologies.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to assess workflows, identify toil, and propose optimization solutions.
  • Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with diverse teams and present toil reduction strategies.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify operational challenges related to toil and develop creative solutions to address them.
  • Project Management: Basic project management skills to plan and execute toil reduction initiatives effectively.
