Supported through 2032

CDP 7.3.2 gives on-prem and hybrid platforms a long, stable horizon.

Upgrades without surprises

Health check before and after, development environment first, short planned downtime.

NiFi 2 in time

NiFi 1.x flows moved and tested in parallel before they become a risk.

Private AI

Cloudera AI with open models, and the data never leaves your walls.

In short

What is Cloudera?

Cloudera is a hybrid data platform that runs in your own data center, in a private cloud or in public clouds. It covers data engineering, data flows (NiFi / Cloudera DataFlow), data warehousing and Cloudera AI, with shared security and governance. It is a common choice where data must stay in-house.

A good choice when
data must stay on-prem or in a sovereign cloud
you already run Cloudera and staying is cheaper than moving
you need private AI on your own GPUs
you run industrial or OT data flows with NiFi and Kafka
Think twice when
your strategy is cloud-only and SaaS
your version is out of support: plan the upgrade now
NiFi 1.x flows are still running: they are end of life

Use cases

Use cases on Cloudera

Banking

CDP upgrade at an international bank

Challenge

Spark and YARN logging errors and a blocked Hive Metastore schema upgrade held back the upgrade.

What we did

Health check before and after, development first, then production, with the full stack updated.

Result

24 nodes upgraded with only 4 hours of platform downtime.

Pharma

OT data collection on the industrial network

Challenge

Production line data did not reach analysts and data scientists.

What we did

A NiFi and Kafka data collection platform with OPC UA connections, on Cloudera.

Result

Live since February 2024; operation grew from one cluster to four platforms.

Manufacturing

Smart-meter platform before end of support

Challenge

Hortonworks support was ending and the first release had to serve one million smart meters.

What we did

Review and tuning, then migration from HDP 3 to CDP before the end of support.

Result

A scaling path to 120 million meters, client rating 5/5.

Telco

First enterprise Big Data platform of an operator

Challenge

The platform had to meet GDPR and enterprise security rules from day one.

What we did

Cloudera with Kerberos, Sentry, TLS and audit, then three years of operation.

Result

Auditable access and a three-year operation SLA.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long is CDP 7.3.2 supported?

Cloudera supports CDP 7.3.2 through 2032, which gives a long, stable horizon for on-prem and hybrid platforms.

How much downtime does an upgrade need?

Usually only a short planned window. At an international bank 24 nodes were upgraded with 4 hours of platform downtime.

What happens with NiFi 1.x?

NiFi 1.x has reached end of life. We inventory your flows, convert them to NiFi 2 or Cloudera DataFlow and test them in parallel.

Should we stay on Cloudera or move?

It depends on your data residency needs, costs and skills. The Platform Modernization Assessment compares both honestly, and staying is often the right answer.

Do you replace Cloudera support?

No. We complement it with platform operation and L2–L3 support, and escalate to Cloudera when needed.

Can we run generative AI on Cloudera?

Yes. With Cloudera AI and open models on your own GPUs. Start with a 4–6 week Private AI PoC.
