About the client/project

We are looking for a Cloud Data Business Analyst who operates close to the technical side of data platforms and development. This role is more technical than a traditional business analyst position and requires understanding data systems, reading code when necessary, and working closely with engineering teams in a cloud environment.

The role focuses on analyzing data processes, documenting system behavior, and translating technical workflows into clear specifications and process diagrams. Rather than acting as a bridge to business stakeholders, the position primarily supports engineering teams by clarifying data logic and system interactions.

Tasks

  • Take end-to-end ownership of development tasks across the full lifecycle: requirements gathering → design → development support → testing → release/deployment → BAU/support and issue resolution
  • Analyze and document data flows and system processes in a cloud-based data environment
  • Create process diagrams and technical documentation describing system behavior and data pipelines
  • Work closely with data engineers and developers to understand system logic and data transformations
  • Analyze and validate data stored in relational databases
  • Perform requirements discovery and process analysis through interviews and workshops
  • Define user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria
  • Produce functional and system specifications including data flows, interfaces, and non-functional requirements
  • Support development teams by clarifying technical requirements and documenting data processes
  • Assist with configuration/parameterization and SQL-based analysis
  • Support testing and validation activities, including SIT and UAT planning and execution support
  • Help reproduce defects, support regression testing, and manage issue resolution
  • Coordinate work items and track progress using Jira, managing risks, dependencies, and escalations
  • Support release preparation and production deployment activities, including change management processes
  • Maintain up-to-date technical documentation in Confluence and contribute to knowledge sharing
  • Help identify inconsistencies and improvement opportunities in data pipelines and data structures
  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders to clarify expectations and manage changes

Necessary knowledge/technologies used

  • 2–4+ years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst, System Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries including joins, aggregations, and window functions
  • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, or PostgreSQL
  • Ability to understand technical systems and read code when necessary
  • Experience creating process diagrams, data flow documentation, and technical specifications
  • Understanding of testing methodologies including SIT and UAT and issue lifecycle management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering teams in a technical environment
  • English proficiency (minimum B2) for documentation and technical communication
  • Interest in or willingness to learn cloud technologies

It gives you an advantage

  • Experience with testing or QA activities
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud environments
  • Basic knowledge of Python
  • Experience working with data platforms or cloud-based data architectures
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts (e.g., Kimball methodology, star/snowflake schema)
  • Experience with data lake or lakehouse architectures (e.g., Delta Lake, Databricks)
  • Exposure to cloud data services such as:
    • Azure (ADF, Synapse)
    • AWS (Glue, Redshift)
    • GCP (BigQuery)
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Git basics, and CI/CD concepts
