CDP Proof Of Concept at MOL — Project Reference

One of the first Hungarian users of CDH (Cloudera Distribution Hadoop) was the MOL Group.

During Q1 2020, MOL commissioned United Consult as part of a short 3-month POC project to test the new Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) platform, integrate it with its cloud service provider system, and conduct an impact assessment on the use of CDP in enterprise environments. In addition, make cost estimates to compare possible solutions.

Within the framework of the project, we have prepared a feasibility study of almost 60 pages, which analyzes in detail what infrastructure alternatives Cloudera can be deployed in, be it on-premise, cloud or hybrid solutions. The alternatives were evaluated and compared against the needs of large companies such as scalability, security, operational expectations, machine learning capabilities, expected costs, etc.

We then took a thorough look at Cloudera's latest product, the Cloudera Data Platform (CDP), as part of a Proof of Concept project. We implemented CDP—Active Directory integration, connected CDP to the company's Azure environment, and deployed the CDP management console. By implementing numerous use cases, we have ensured that with CDP we can quickly and flexibly create processing clusters in hours or minutes, which can access data stored in the cloud and can be efficiently connected to other processing devices such as PowerBI.

During the project, performance tests were carried out to compare the processing capabilities and cost levels of clusters of different sizes.
