Proper testing can save your company millions — our experts tell you how!

“Artificial intelligence is the new electricity. Just as electricity transformed almost everything a hundred years ago, today I can hardly say an industry that AI would not change in the coming years,” said Andrew Ng, co-founder of Google Brain and a professor at Stanford. Nevertheless, during the recent UC webinar, we discussed the introduction of SAP S/4HANA and the increasing role of AI in test automation.

Our speakers, János Faluvégi (Senior Solution Advisor, SAP) and Gergely Sáránszki (Solution Sales Executive, SAP), presenting their experiences in the SAP environment in large companies, and István Homoki (Head ofQuality Assurance and Automation, United Consult) agreed that today there are no longer just simple technological upgrades, but a level of strategic transformation that affects the operation of entire companies and even entire industries. Despite all this, the complexity of introduction projects is often underestimated by participants, especially on the testing side. Unfortunately, incorrect or incomplete testing can have serious business consequences - this is what our experts have pointed out.

big data webinar

“The migration of ERP systems is one of the most complex and responsible corporate projects, where even a single failure can cause serious operational disruption”He spoke at the webinar. However, manual testing is time consuming and expensive, and often not enough to provide the required depth and coverage. According to industry experience,SAP S/4HANA projectsOne of the main blockers is the scarcity of manual testing capacity.

Why is intelligent test automation good?

During the webinar, our experts explained in detail that software testing is one of the main blockers of S/4HANA projects, and on an industry average, the resource dedicated to testing can account for up to 25% of the total project time. The cost-effective solution for this is intelligent test automation. There is suchmodel-based testing approach, which is also suitable for quickly creating, maintaining and reusing tests, all without coding.

“Tricentis Tosca uses a model-based approach that allows tests to be created and reused without coding between different systems”— could be heard by the participants of the webinar. Our experts also presented specific case studies, including the example of an American energy company, where it would have taken 1,300 hours a week to run 250 test cases manually, but after launch, the same was done in 32 hours, resulting in savings of millions of dollars.

Support device, real copilot...

In the webinar, we also showed how testing is supported by artificial intelligence, which of course does not provoke the tester, but it is able to interpret test cases, errors as a copilot and help the work in natural language, and this is true for all phases of development.

There was also talk of the so-called “shift left” approach, the essence of which is to think about quality assurance in the early stages of the project, when formulating business requirements. All this in the context of testing means that testing is not the only quality control point, but that we define quality assurance criteria for each phase of the project on an ongoing basis.
