We hope this article will be useful to you even if you are a black belt home office owner, and even if you are just getting acquainted with remote work.

Working from home sounded tempting to all of us at first, but many times along the way it turned out that serious self-discipline is required, and if we do not establish certain rules, we quickly get tired of it. If you've ever made coffee in the morning without a mug, sat in a shirt and sweatshirt at a meeting, or had Windows boot up earlier than you, then you know what we're talking about. And this is not a joke, the following rules may seem like trifles, but they have worked for us.
It is necessary to establish a system that gives rhythm to the everyday life spent at home and helps to maintain a balance between work and private life. A well-thought-out agenda also helps us maintain a normal biorhythm, meaning that in addition to making working at home more efficient, it also benefits us biologically — physically and mentally.

Dress for work — you don't have to be like Barney Stinson — because pajamas can be really comfortable, but after a while you can easily sink into your comfort zone (although it's understandable that a picture like this looks good on Instagram and Facebook too). Okay, obviously you don't have to hide in uncomfortable, formal clothes like you're going to the office, but in the morning do your usual ritual, change clothes, believe me, you'll feel better than pushing work in an orc.

Many of us like to sit at the kitchen table or kitchen counter or lie down on the sofa in the living room, yet these are not the most ideal places for a home office. Immediately after “moving home”, designate a place that will be used exclusively for work in the coming weeks and months, but keep the rest of the apartment private!
The home office can be a corner of the room or a chair and a desk. Of course, all this does not mean that we cannot write an email sitting on the terrace in the company of a cup of coffee, or that we cannot run through a professional article while cooking lunch, however, good work requires not only time, but a comfortable place where we can concentrate on the task at hand.

As an IT company, online meetings and the digital communication platforms essential for them have been present in the daily life of United Consult for many years. Although it is often said that the shoes of the suszter always have holes, but since we deal with IT process and product introduction for our customers on a daily basis, we have already successfully completed the complete digital transition in the first weeks.
Although there is no communication platform that can replace personal contact, strive to stay in touch with your colleagues on a daily basis and talk in the same way about daily things to do, work, and yes, personal life.
During virtual meetings, it is important to make sure that there are no external factors in our immediate environment that interfere with communication, that there is no TV talking or, as happened in a scene that has recently become a meme, that no one in underwear is running in the background.

I mean the time you've spent traveling so far. For many, it can be up to 2 hours a day, so look at the home office as if you are buying time. Have you always had breakfast on the run? Now you finally have time to give way to a family breakfast, or you can also use the freed up time for a little home workout, because it is not in vain that the saying goes, healthy body healthy soul.
For example, among our hard core Salesforce colleagues, the competition has started to see who can get the most certificates, even though we were no longer bad in the domestic competition, as our team has the most Salesforce exams in Hungary.

Lunch breaks and hourly rest in the home office are extremely important, and these small stops are indeed necessary to be able to do quality work. Get up, take a walk at home a circle, and everything can go further.

After work, you will have nowhere to go home, since you are at home. It is very important to be able to finish, as in the home office you can easily have the opportunity to merge work with your private life, and since you always have your laptop at hand, you can check work even in the evening. Have a point where you put off work and continue the next morning from where you left off. During the day, get up in front of the machine and make sure to set a time frame for your breaks as well.

If you cringe at home, there's no shame in admitting it. Any problem you notice in yourself, report it to your family, friends, or even to your boss, colleagues. Taking time off at the home office is just as good if you need it.
